Must-Have Travel Essentials

I love all things travel and have visited 29 countries over the last 10 years but let me tell you one of the most annoying things about travelling is living out of a rucksack for weeks on end and having to repack your clothes every couple of days when changing accommodation.

So, I'm here for anything that makes living out of a rucksack or travelling that little bit more enjoyable. This page contains my staple go-to travel products, that I make sure I pack for EVERY single trip I go on.

I will be updating this recommendations page regularly to ensure that I keep you up-to-date with all the must-have travel essentials for your own trip!

Ear Plugs

Ear Plugs

Whilst travelling, you will find that your sleep can be very often disrupted with noise.

Whether you are trying to sleep on public transport (flights/buses etc) or in hostels, unfortunately it can be very noisy and that is just something that you will have to prepare for and deal with.

That's why you need to buy decent ear plugs to try and optimise your sleep. I've found the best ear plugs are the silicone ones that can mould to your ear shape, like the ones I've linked here.

Eye Mask

Eye Mask

An eye mask is an absolute necessity if you are trying to get in some sleep during the day or in hostels, when for some reason or another people think it's acceptable to turn on lights in the early hours of the morning when everyone is sleeping (*sigh*).

That's why you need to buy a decent eye mask to get in as much sleep as possible, whenever and wherever you can.

Microfibre Towel

Microfibre Towel

When you are packing for travelling, you've got to be very selective with what you have space to take versus things that will just take up far too much space.

For example, an ordinary towel that you use at home will take up far too much space even if you fold or roll it. Also, not to mention how long a towel takes to dry.

For travelling a microfibre towel is the best option! It takes up very little space, can double up as a swimming towel or beach towel and it all dries super quick!

Packing Cubes

Savisto Packing Cubes - Small, Medium, Large, XL (6-Piece Set)

If you've never used packing cubes for travelling, let me tell you that they will change your life. It allows you to seperate your underwear, tops, shorts etc into their own little compartments.

This makes it super easy to just grab what you need and go, instead of taking out the whole contents of your rucksack/suitcase trying to find something.

Also, fantastic for putting your dirty laundry in its own compartment so it doesn't smell up the rest of your clothes.

Honestly, this product is incredible - a proper top-tier travel essential!!

Power Bank

Anker Power Bank

Traveling can be unpredictable at times but it can make for the best adventures! You'll want to make sure you are prepared for anything that is thrown at you.

For example, I've found myself in many situations where my charger breaks or my phone is about to die and I don't know how to get back to my accommodation.

In these situations, it is absolutely crucial to have a back-up charger so you can charge your devices to ensure you stay safe.

Travel Container and Bottles For Liquids

Travel Container and Bottles For Liquids

One of my pet peeves is having to sort through your liquids and move them into one plastic bag before going through security.

You can actually buy a see through container for your liquids that is more robust than the plastic bags you get at the airport and as long as the container meets your countries regulations, you will be able to get through security with this.

That way you can also see how many toiletries you are taking and if they all fit in the bag. So, save yourself the hassle and have a relatively stress-free airport trip by having all this done before you go!

Travel Pillow

Travel Pillow

A necessity not only for long-haul flights but any mode of transport. This is even more essential if you are going to be travelling economy.

Whilst travelling, you'll want to get in some 'zzz' wherever and whenever you can. There's nothing worse than waking up with a crooked neck after your head falls into a super uncomfortable position whilst you're sleeping.

This travel essential is a pretty obvious but necessary one. Depending on your trip, you might find yourself in several countries which all have different plug adaptors.
