Valentine's Day is celebrated annually on the 14th February in many countries around the world. It's a day in which you celebrate your loved ones. Traditionally, partners, but now thanks to the TV show 'Parks and Recreation' and the introduction of 'Galentine's Day', it's now also a day to celebrate friendships too.Edinburgh was recently voted the most beautiful city in the world by TimeOut magazine and one of the top 10 most romantic cities in the world by Flowercard, along with the likes of Prague, Venice, and New York, making it the perfect place to celebrate this Valentine's Day. As mentioned above Valentine's Day isn't just for couples anymore. So, on this list, I've included events for singles and groups of friends all around Edinburgh, allowing you to find the perfect Valentine's event for you!This post covers Valentine's Day Events In Edinburgh 2024.

1. Find Your Special Someone At Speed Dating

On the run up to Valentine's Day, there's a host of speed dating events happening all over the city.

Speed dating allows you to come face-to-face with eligible singles, seeing if you match with anyone and increases your chances of finding that someone special.

These events include Lesbian Speed Dating on Thursday 8th February and Gay Speed Dating on Thursday 15th February, both at Cask in Edinburgh.

On the Wednesday 14th February, there's Valentine's Day Authentic Speed Dating for people aged 30-45 at Sahara Studio, and Valentine's Speed Dating for people aged 35-55 at Le Monde.

2. Enjoy A Valentine's Evening At The Zoo

For a truly unique Valentine's Day, look no further than Edinburgh Zoo! This is the ideal event for all animal lovers out there.

On Wednesday 14th February, starting at 6.30pm, you and your loved one will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the animals at Edinburgh's zoo.

Afterwards, you'll then be treated to a candlelit three-course meal, along with a lovely bottle of wine, in their beautiful Mansion House.

The event lasts 2.5 hours. Tickets admit entry for two people, costing £137, if you are a RZSS Member/Patron, or £150, if you aren't a member. You can get them here.

3. Mingle With A Single At Revolution's Social Drinks

Another event for any single people out there! However, this one is a bit more relaxed than the speed dating mentioned above, especially if you don't like to feel the pressure of a time-limit on your conversations.

This event at Revolution Bar on Thursday 15th February is perfect for you, if you are new to the city, or just looking to expand your social circle, either with friends or something a bit more.

It allows you to strike up conversations, foster genuine connections and connect with like-minded individuals in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.

The event takes place at 7pm, lasts 3 hours and is specifically aimed for people aged between 27-45. The dress code is smart casual, but you must include an element of red in there somewhere. Tickets cost £16.99 and you can find out more information about the event here.

4. Be Mesmerised At A Candlelight Concert

Plan an unforgettable Valentine's Day for you and your significant other by booking a candlelight concert, where you'll listen to a string quartet playing incredible music surrounded by hundreds of candlelights in some of Edinburgh's most atmospheric venues.

On Friday 16th February at either 7.15pm or 9.30pm, St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral is the venue for a Valentine's Day Special Candlelight Concert, which features songs from 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Breakfast At Tiffany's', 'Titanic' and more. This is sure to be one of the most romantic Valentine's events!

If you don't fancy the Valentine's Day Special, then there's different candlelight concerts to choose from throughout February including Han Zimmer's best works, a tribute to Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Taylor Swift and Ludovico Einaudi.

The candlelight concerts usually last about 60 minutes and ticket prices range from £18, depending on which zone you pick to sit in.

5. Be Serenaded By Elvis At A Valentine's Tribute Night

On Friday 16th February from 7pm, Grassmarket Community Project is proud to present 'From Elvis With Love: Tribute and Dinner'.

You'll be served a glass of bubbles on arrival and also, a Valentine's-inspired 2 course dinner. You'll then get to sit back, dance or sing along, as you are entertained by some of the King of Rock n' Roll's most famous Love Songs.

This is quite an intimate show, so if you're lucky, you may even be serenaded by Elvis himself!

6. Be Captivated By An Evening Of Music From Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' By The Royal Scottish National Orchestra

For the ultimate romantic Valentine's Day, enjoy an evening of music from one of the world's greatest love stories, Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet', played by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

The concert takes place at the Usher Hall in the city centre of Edinburgh on Friday 16th February from 7.30pm.

7. Explore The City On A Romantic Date Outdoor Escape Room

Gather your team for an outdoor escape room game around Edinburgh. You'll explore some of the most romantic places in the city including Circus Lane and St. Bernard's Well, whilst following clues and solving puzzles along the way.

The game will take about 1.5-hour, starting at Dean Bridge House and finishing at Saint Stephen's Comely Bank Church. You'll even discover the longest clock pendulum in Europe and also, learn how the Scottish Royal Arms came to depict a unicorn and a lion on it.

8. Chance Your Luck At 'Be My Valentine' Bingo

On Saturday 17th February from 12-4pm, The Black Ivy Hotel, which is only 5-minutes drive from Edinburgh City Centre, is hosting a 'Be My Valentine' event.

This event includes a delicious afternoon tea in their stunning private tearoom which has beautiful park views. The afternoon tea consists of freshly made sandwiches, homemade scones with jam and cream, sweet treats and loose-leaf tea or barista-style coffee.
